When women were given the right to vote, many men saw the change as a threat to their jobs and way of life. The problem was that once women asserted their rights, they became just like men.

The only difference was that they were allowed to express themselves physically as well as mentally. As these rights were slowly given out, a new phrase started to be heard: "He's the man of the house." This signified that there were not equal rights for both men and women. The idea of equality between men and women was also seen by many people as unneeded, especially when it came to working or raising children.
